RESTORATION OF THE APOLLO DEL BELVEDERE

June 2021

The Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums have been selected for the 2021 Bank of America Art Conservation Project grant to help finance the restoration of the Apollo del Belvedere, one of the most admired among the ancient statues of Rome.

The Bank of America Art Conservation Project provides grants to museums to conserve historically or culturally significant works of art that are in danger of degeneration, including works that have been designated as national treasures.

Apollo del Belvedere

Only 23 cultural restoration projects across the globe, 13 countries and nine U.S. cities, received grants. To be selected among the many entries is a great honor, and the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums would like to graciously thank the Bank of America Art Conservation Project for their commitment to conservation and support of the Apollo del Belvedere.

The conservation of the Apollo del Belvedere has also been benefiting from the collaborative efforts of our Chapters. The Patrons of the Arts would like to thank the Italian and International Chapter for their assistance in securing the Bank of America grant and the Illinois Chapter and New York Chapter for financing the preliminary studies of the Apollo del Belvedere.
