ITALIAN & INTERNATIONAL PATRONS SUPPORT TEDxROMA TALKS

International Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums

Date: 01 May 2019

On Saturday May 4th TEDxRoma took place at the Roma Convention Center - La Nuvola. TED is a non-profit organization which aims to Spread Ideas of Value. Starting as a 4-day conference in California (USA) over 30 years ago, TED has grown to support ideas that change the world with different initiatives. The annual TED conference invites the best thinkers and creators of the world to speak for 18 minutes. Their speech is then made available, free of charge, on TED.com. TED speakers include Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and Gordon Brown.

This year's theme, Society 5.0 A - Human Centric future, starred Deborah Tramentozzi, with her very own TED talk. Deborah has always been an inspiration for the Founders of our Chapters, as she encouraged our mission dedicated to making art accessible to all. Her talk focused on Art for the Blind by means of a copy of Caravaggio's Deposition for the visually impaired that the Vatican Museums kindly lent for the event.

Deborah Tramentozzi's talk, "Can you really see art" was the most viewed, and received an incredibly long standing ovation from the 1.800 people present in the audience. The spectators responded emotionally and while many listened in awe and in tears , she explained her very own vision of Caravaggio's Deposition for the visually impaired, and her incredible outlook on life. She showed everyone in the audience and the all followers watching, as it streamed online, her life story, and how art changed it, and how many of the obstacles we find in our way, in life, are really created by ourselves.
